VR-AR-Media Production Centre


Physical Locations of Hardware

The Library has set up a virtual VR-AR-Media Production Centre (VAM Production Centre) which spreads across five locations in EdUHK Library:

Creative Lab (G/F, MMW Library, open 24 hours)

  • The Pilot Future Classroom
  • 11 gaming level notebooks installed with high-end graphic cards and VAM production tools
  • Additional 19 gaming notebooks*
  • 30 iPads for VAM development*
  • HTC Vive Pro headsets available for viewing and testing VR outputs*
  • iFloor,??an interactive floor application*
  • Academic and teaching staff may reserve the room in advance via iBooking
  • Open access for all library users when there is no booking

VAM Workstations (PC Area, G/F, MMW Library, open 24 hours)
  • 6 high-end PCs and 2 iMac’s with 4K displays and VAM production tools
  • EdUHK students may reserve the workstations (C01-C08) in advance via Booking System
Media Production Area (3/F, MMW Library)
  • 4 high-end PCs and 4 Mac Pro’s with 4K displays and VAM production tools
  • EdUHK students and staff may reserve the workstations (M06-M13) in advance via Booking System
e-Learning Studio (1/F, MMW Library) and Tseung Kwan O Study Centre Learning Commons (TKOSCLC)?
  • Specific VAM production tools are also installed on notebooks at e-Learning Studio on 1/F and 2 high-end PCs at TKOSCLC

  • EdUHK staff can acquire their user accounts via OCIO 101VR/AR web page.
MAKAR
  • VR/AR production platform on which users can create their own VR/AR objects for playing back on mobile devices.
  • Creation and editing is done on PCs or Mac’s. The final VR/AR objects are played on mobile devices.
  • A free and licensed version of MAKAR is available.

WeTour
  • A user (the Host) can upload their own 360 panorama images to the WeTour platform to create a tour guide with VR effect.
  • The Host can share the tour to a group of users (the Visitors) so they can follow the guided tour.
